is SPML dead?
There are not many open source implementations, there is no ecosphere.
For the inter enterprise provisioning the answer is: yes
It has shown to be usable within enterprise environments as a homogeneous and flexible provisioning framework
SCIM in contrary to SPML has quite a big group of deployers and there are some open source libraries.
Time will have to tell how far SCIM is going to be adopted
It might be a good path for SPML implementations to create a SCIM PSP (reading SPML documents and talking SCIM to the outside world
